Gargagnago di Valpolicella, 22 August 2019 – It boasts neither a DOCG, nor a DOC, nor an IGT, it is an authentic Italian Wine of open territories. Masi Agricola chaired by Sandro Boscaini and Bruno Vespa’s Azienda Agricola Futura presented yesterday in Cortina d’Ampezzo “Terregiunte” – Vino D’Italia; an unconventional, explosive red, the result of an innovative cultural-enological concept free from provincialism and oriented to pure quality. It was born from Boscaini and Vespa’s passion for their respective lands, Veneto and Puglia, with cultural and viticultural heritages at the same time distant and similar, with territories that express great uniqueness and personality but synergistic when open to meeting each other.
Great party for the first public presentation of the rare bottles, glamour and style, in the splendid setting of the Cristallo Hotel, a Luxury Collection Resort, in the presence of authorities, press and the Cortina d’Ampezzo jet-set.
Riccardo Cotarella and Andrea Dal Cin, “top wine-makers”, testified their belief in the Terregiunte project, analysing with sensitivity and mastery the oenological cultures of the two regions and obtaining a wine without complexes, the flag bearer of the Italian flag. They worked to extract the best from the 2016 vintage of Costasera Amarone Masi and Raccontami Primitivo di Manduria Vespa, studying a blend and refinement aimed at a premium wine. The guests perceived the compact structure of a true and original “Made in Italy” red, balanced, elegant, yet dense and delicious.
“Terregiunte is a sharing of true Italian values. A red wine of Italy that carries a modern message, a more understandable “Made in Italy” even for countries like China, where it is pure utopia to expect to know the many, too many – though excellent – territorial denominations of our country. An oenological “Brothers of Italy”,” commented Boscaini.
For Vespa: “Terregiunte is the crowning achievement of a dream. Italy united by the fusion of two neighbouring wines, the prestigious fruit of two distant regions. A great wine to strengthen Italian pride in the world”.
The importance of the project was underlined by the presence of the two governors Luca Zaia for Veneto and Michele Emiliano for Puglia, both agreed that the autonomy of the territories, the authority and the distinct personalities of the wines, must still leave room for a great overview of the country.
Zaia, after congratulating the oenologists for taking up this challenge with passion and courage, praised the creators of the project “a great intuition, I am sure this wine will be lucky and other wise producers will follow with this concept“. Emiliano also congratulated them, recalling the ancient association of the Serenissima to defend the Apulian coast.
The label is already evocative in the choice of the product name “Terregiunte”: it conveys the concept of “junction” of two lands that come together in an ideal embrace. Two worlds, two cultures geographically at the antipodes, North and South, are mirrored with the same visual weight. Two suns, calm and reserved in the north, red-hot and vibrant in the south, illuminate respectively the dome of Marano di Valpolicella and the Burraco Tower of Manduria, in the center the waves of the Ionian Sea merge with the hills at the foot of the Alps.
The 2016 Terregiunte Vino D’Italia is produced in 12,000 bottles and 500 magnums. It now completes its refinement in bottle and will be available from November 2019. It can now be purchased en primeur by contacting ordini@masi.it or ordini@bvfutura14.it. It is destined to be an iconic wine and to represent an oenological rarity that challenges time. It is in a medium-high price range.
