THE WINERY
The history of the Vespa Vignaioli winery
The Vespa Vignaioli winery has its roots in Manduria, Apulia, a region historically linked to viticulture and to Primitivo in particular. Founded in 2014 by journalist Bruno Vespa together with his sons, the winery is located in the evocative Masseria Li Reni, a 16th-century residence that the Vespa family has restored, where historic architecture is intertwined with the charm of Apulian wine-making tradition.
THE TERRITORY AND THE VINES
The choice of this area as the location for the winery is no coincidence. Surrounded by vineyards covering 30 hectares, the company cultivates indigenous varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro and Fiano. The vines are carefully tended and many still use the traditional bush training method which is particularly indicated for the older plants.
The combination of the unique terroir of this area and the oenological expertise of Riccardo Cotarella, our internationally renowned oenologist known for his passion and competence in the rediscovery of native Italian grape varieties, allows for the creation of wines that reflect the essence of the terroir with an elegance and complexity that enhance their unique characteristics.
PASSION AND TRADITION
The Vespa Vignaioli project stems also from the influence of Luigi Veronelli.
The famous oenologist introduced Bruno Vespa to the world of wine in the 1970s, thus cultivating a passion that today translates into a wine business of excellence in constant dialogue between the past and innovation.
