TERROIR
The Terroir of Apulia
The vine has always been a distinctive symbol of the wonderful land of Apulia. Thanks to its temperate climate, the territory benefits from the cool sea breezes from the coast which embrace our plants encouraging healthy and vigorous growth.
THE HISTORY OF MAGNA GRECIA
Overlooking the beautiful Ionian coast with Taranto as its capital, the region is still reminiscent of the cultural fervour of ancient Magna Graecia, and the impact of the Hellenic colonisation of southern Italy in the 7th century BC.
This cultural heritage enriches not only the history of Apulia, but also the winemaking tradition that we celebrate today.
EXCELLENCE IN THE VINEYARDS
Our estate covers about 46 hectares, 34 of which are dedicated to vineyards, and is located mainly in the Manduria area, home of the famous Primitivo grape variety.
These lands fall within the production area of high quality wines, classified under the Primitivo di Manduria DOP and IGP Salento designations.
Negroamaro: Apulian freshness
Negroamaro is an exclusive indigenous grape variety that grows between the municipalities of Manduria and Lizzano, taking advantage of the temperature fluctuations and fresh winds of the Ionian Sea. This variety with its rich pulp and compact bunches, expresses hints of Mediterranean scrub, and is symbol of Apulian freshness.
Primitivo: Velvety Harmony
Primitivo, considered the king of our area and perhaps of the entire Apulia region, is a variety of great vigour that matures early developing characteristics of intensity and powerful flavour. The winery cultivates several hectares of Primitivo, using both the spurred cordon method and the ancient ‘ad alberello’ method, reserved for the oldest vines.
Fiano Salento: Intense and Enveloping
Confident in Apulia's indigenous grape varieties, we chose to cultivate an authentic Fiano. Working with our oenologist and agronomists, we seek to achieve a Fiano that delivers an intense and enveloping organoleptic experience. Characterised by abundant production and small berries, this vine is grown according to the Guyot method to preserve its authenticity.
